MARINE INSURANCE

Perils of the sea, apart from those incidental to war risks of sinking, mining and capture have been greatly increased by removal of navigation marks, extinction of lights, diversions of vessels to unfamiliar routes and blackouts. Marine underwriters in consequence of these conditions have added a special rate of 2/6 per cent, less 15 per cent, to apply to all ships leaving from or arriving at the United Kingdon the charge to be additional to current marine rates.

SOUTH BRITISH INSURANCE By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, March 19. The South British Insurance Company has declared an unchanged interim dividend of BJd a share for the half-year ended February 29. Payment will be made on April 11. MINING NEWS The Mossy Creek Gold Dredging Company has declared a fourteenth dividend of Id a share payable on March 27. BONDS hosiery mills A net profit of £6134 is reported by Bonds Hosiery Mills (N.Z) Ltd., for the year ended January 19. This compares with £4264 for 1939. The dividend is raised from 71 per cent to 10 per cent. The directors report that, owing to the war, only a small portion of the necessary plant was obtained but the question of increasing facilities was receiving attention. Assured creditors were £35,837 higher than last year at £49,761 but a considerable portion of this sum had since been liquidated as funds from the Reserve Bank became available. There had been a substantial addition to the year’s business which had been seriously affected by import restrictions although the directors were concerned with the necessity of securing adequate supplies of raw materials.
