FAREWELL SOCIAL On Monday evening in the Rangitata Island Hall a farewell social was tendered to Prr ate J. J. Hearn, of the Second Echelon. Mr Ross Brodie, in making the presentation of a money belt, wallet and a fountain pen, wished the guest godspeed and a safe and speedy return. His remarks were endorsed by Messrs F. Ruddenklau and G. Cain. Miss Helen Chalmers on behalf of the Women’s War Guild, presented Private Hearn with a parcel. Music was supplied by Mr Kelland and extras by Mrs Metcalf and Miss Wynn Snell. Messrs J. Watts and B. Fawdray were M.C’s.
