VIGOROUS ATTACK
Communist Activity
By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, March 4
Vigorously attacking the activity of Communist organisation in New Zealand in an address to the men of the Addington workshops to-day. the Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple) was enthusiastically applauded when he declared that the distribution of poisonous propaganda and treacherous lies into the workshops of New Zealand must cease.
“An organisation is at work in New Zealand and is seeking to overthrow our own form of democratic Government and transplant In New Zealand ruthless bloodthirsty dictatorship,” declared Mr Semple. “Foreign spies and pimps are propagating a gospel that does not belong to this country and which is foreign to the British mind and spirit. The gospel of Communism feeds on misery and strife. It appeals to the lock-picker, burglar and denizen of the underworld. The distribution of this propaganda will not be tolerated any longer and that gang of potential murderers that has accepted the foreign Judas’s coin is not going to be allowed to wreck this country.”
