Flight-Lieutenant I. G. Morrison, who is coining to New Zealand In connection with the Empire air training scheme, gained his flying certificate with the Canterbury Aero Club five years ago, and then joined the Royal Air Force.
Mr J. K. Monteath, senior English master at Christ’s College, who has been spending a year’s leave of absence in England, is expected to arrive in New Zealand early this week. His return voyage was delayed by the general uncertainty of shipping movements.
Sir Maynard Hedstrom, who recently arrived in Auckland from Suva, has received from King Gustav V. of Sweden the decoration of the Order of the North Star, in recognition of his valuable services as honorary Vice-Consul for Sweden at Suva over a period of 26 years.
Dr. W. M. Porteous, physician of the Waikato Hospital, has' volunteered for .active military service with the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force. He has been appointed to the Second Field Hospital Division, and he will leave the hospital for camp in the second week in May.
