HOSPITAL BOUTIQUE
INNOVATION IN SYDNEY An innovation has been introduced at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, in the guise of an attractive modern shop, which is situated at the hospital entrance, and from which everything from hamburgers to silk stockings may be purchased. The “boutique,” as the shop is called, is set among trees, and replaces the small shop which for the last twenty years has been in the building itself. The new building features wide glass windows and decorative displays, and is available for patients, their friends and the hospital staff. Especially attractive are the boutique’s buffet and dining-room. This large, airy room is beautifully furnished in grey polished wood, with dark blue leather covers on the stools. All proceeds made from purchases will be in aid of the hospital. Voluntary helpers give service in the restaurant, and five voluntary matrons take turns in supervising each day, bringing their own helpers. The boutique is open all day through the week and from 2 p.m. till 4.30 p.m. on Sundays.
