TIMARU BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Timaru Branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday last. Present—Mesdames T. W. Satterthwaite (in the chair), W. Hall. C. Hall, W. Sowerby, R. Tonkin, F. Wilkin, Laverty, F. Lewis, C. S. Marshall, H. D. Oddie, G. B. Green, W. G. Tweedy, G. R. Lee, J. S. Satterthwaite, J. Henshaw and D. B. Shand. The nurses’ report for January was as follows.— Headquarters —
The holiday leave for the nurses commences in March. The relieving nurse will be Miss A. Ussher. A letter was received from the Christchurch Branch asking for a donation towards a typewriter for the matron of the Lady King Karitane Hospital. It was decided to send a donation of £l/1/-. The entertainment of soldiers from Burnham Camp on Sundays was discussed and it was agreed that members of the committee would be responsible for Sunday, May 5.
It was agreed that a jumble sale be held on Friday, March 1, part of the proceeds to go towards the furnishing of the new Plunket rooms in the Women’s Community Centre.
It was reported that the Community Centre Committee would be grateful for gifts of toys, new and second hand for the children’s creche, and any member of the Society who could contribute any was asked to do so.
