SPRINT OVER BORDER
DASH TO FREEDOM Belgian peasants toiling in their fields at Esplechln recently heard the noise of an aeroplane and saw a British fighter in difficulties. As they watched, it made a bumpy landing, tearing away fences before it stopped. The peasants rushed to the machine. A young pilot clambered out.
“Where am I?" he asked. "In Belgium,” he was told. “Oh, am I far from the French frontier?"
“No, Just 200 yards,” said a peasant, pointing to a frontier post. The pilot did not wait to hear more. He grabbed documents from the cockpit—and sprinted to the border, reports the “Sunday Chronicle,”' London. From there he waved a Joyous farewell to the peasants. Police later came on the scene, and the 'plane was seized.
