PURE MILK

DENMARK FIGHTS T.B. For some years past Denmark has been steadily advancing in her fight to obtain full control of T.B. and to have throughout the country nothing but T.B. free herds.

Bearing in mind the modern ideas regarding T.B. and the campaign which all countries have had for its elimination as far as possible in human beings, Denmark is fully alive to the advertising advantage she would gain if she could say that the whole of her dairy produce came from herds which were T.B. free. Starting with a very difficult job, for there were many herds which had as high as 65 per cent reactors, Denmark has been moving steadily ahead with eradication work.

The most recent report to hand shows that the work to-day is supported by 62 per cent of the dairy factories, which bear the cost of the regular examinations and the losses from the destruction of diseased animals. Some of these dairies pay a higher price for the milk from nontubercular herds. It is expected that in a short time that more than one half of Danish dairies will be entirely free from tuberculosis. This has already been reached on the island of Bornholm, and over large areas of the Islands of Seland and Fynen.
