Patrons are reminded that the first round of the Destiny Competition will be held in the Harmonica Band Room to-night. A tour which embraces the best tourist resorts of New South Wales and Victoria has been arranged to take place at Easter. It will occupy about four to five weeks and is crammed with interesting and varied attractions from beginning to end. Pre-war contracts make the price not the least attractive feature of the tour. The Girl Guides’ camp is being held this year at the old Mill site, Temuka, and a visiting day will be held on Tuesday, January 30. The Union Steam Ship Company, traffic agents for the Canadian Australasian Line, announce that reductions in war surcharge fares between Auckland and Sydney, from 33 1-3 per cent, to 15 per cent, similar to those already announced by the Union Steam Ship Company and Huddart Parker, Ltd., for their steamers, will operate by the Aorangi and Niagara.
