YOUNG MAN DROWNED
TRAGEDY AT ST. CLAIR By Telegraph—Press association DUNEDIN, January 23. A drowning fatality occurred this evening when Donald lan Mclntyre, aged 22, lost his life while bathing in the surf at St. Clair. A warning that he was in difficulties was given by two -iris who were rescued from the surf b” the beach patrol. When members of the St. Clair Life Saving Club reached the spot where Mclntyre was last seen there was no trace of him. It was thought that he might have been swept out to sea, and a request was made to the Royal New Zealand Air Force station at North Taleri that a 'plane be sent to search for him. Although the 'plane flew low over the surf no sign of the missing man could be seen.
