Jones) announced to-day the names of commanding officers for the second echelon of the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force as follows: Fifth Infantry Brigade—Colonel J. Hargest. Twenty-first Auckland Battalion— Lieut.-Col. Macky. Twenty-second Wellington Battalion —Major L. W. Andrew. Twenty - third Canterbury - Otago Battalion—Lieut.-Col. A. S. Falconer. Twenty-eighth Maori BattalionMajor G. Dittmer. Fifth Field Regiment New Zealand Artillery—Lieut.-Col. R. E. Sleigh. Sevehth Anti-tank Regiment New Zealand Artillery—Major (temporary; C. E. Weir. Seventh Field Com. .ny New Zealand Engineers—Major (temporary) F. M. H. Hanson. Squadron Second New Zealand Divisional Cavalry Regiment—Major A. J. Nicoll. RECRUITING AT TIMARU Seven men enlisted at the Timaru Recruiting Office yesterday, bringing the total for the South Canterbury district to 508. Three names were hot available yesterday, but included in the seven were:— Douglas Francis Rayner, Pareora East. John Harrington O’Sullivan, Tycho. James Joseph Quinn. Studholme. Thomas King, Temuka.
