HARMONICA BAND

SOLO COMPETITION, Congratulating the members of the Timaru Harmonica Band on the willing response they had made to calls I for their services. Mr P. B. Foote drew attention to the general improvement in the playing of the band. The first annual solo competitions of the band were held in the bandroom on Saturday and Mr Foote wished the band success in the Easter Dominion contest. Results were:— Senior harmonicas—A. Hellier 1, J McLaren and J. Chiles equal 2. Junior harmonicas—E. Sargent 1. J Shaw 2. W. Nicholas 3. Side drum—C. Kelly 1. J. Skudder 2. Accordion—R. Thompson 1. E. Poulston 2. A. Hellier 3. The F Smith Memorial Cup was awarded to R. Thompson.
