Increase In Cargo Handled The annual review of the Timaru Harbour Board’s operations for the year ended September 30, which was presented by the chairman (Mr W. T. Ritchie) at the Board meeting yestrday, showed that the total cargo handled exceeded that of the previous year by 6,512 tons. The total cargo handled across the wharves for the year amounted to 122,550 tons, compared with 116,038 tons last year. The following table shows where the variations occurred:—
The net tonnage of shipping entering the port during the year totalled 488,963 tons as against 491,922 tons last year. The port was visited by 49 overseas vessels as against 47 during the previous year. A 8 22Hw ol scr!s
