EFFORT TO SECURE RELEASE
British Cargo In German Ships British Official Wireless (Received November 22. 6.30 p.m.) RUGBY. November 21. The London Chamber of Commerce is engaged in efforts to secure the release and re-shipment of a large amount of British-owned cargo in German vessels in refuge in neutral ports. British cargo owners are interested in more than 140 German ships lying in 42 different ports in various parts of the world. The value of the gcods cannot at present be estimated accurately, although it is some millions of pounds. The Chamber has completed preliminary steps and a committee of cargo owners has been *et up whom the traders concerned will be advised to notify. The organisation is primarily concerned with British goods, but as discharge frequently involves moving neutral-owned cargo, the Chamber is also prepared to consider assisting in securing the release of such neutral cargo.
