QUEST FOR OIL

EXPLORATORY WORK Bv Telegraph —Press Association AUCKLAND. November 21. “We are carrying out exploration w’ork for oil.” said Messrs R. E. Turner and E. V. Winterer. American geologists, attached to the staff of the Superior Oil Company of New Zealand on their arrival in Auckland. They were accompanied by Mr J. W. Ward a Wellington solicitor. They said thev were unable to comment on their business. Mr Winterer said that it was likely that he would return to the Uniter States by the next ship. The company, whose headquarters are at Palmerston North, employs 38 men. of whom 23 are Americans said Mr Turner. He added that the company had 14 permits, each covering 200 square miles of territory in the North and South Islands.
