CENTENNIAL CELEBRATIONS Bv Telegraph —Press Association WELLINGTON, September 12. At a special meeting of the National Centennial Council **»» chairman, the Hon. W. !•!. The meeting resolved unanimously. “That this meeting of the National Centennial Council agrees wholeheartedly with the ( Government’s desire that, with such modifications only as the necessities of war demand, the centennial should be fittingly and adequately celebrated, and urges all centennial organisations to carry on with their plans secure in the knowledge that the aspirations and responsibilities of the centennial endeavours themselves will be a most valuable aid in strengthening the national spirit so necessary in a time of national crisis.” "In view of the difficulties made by the outbreak of war, it was decided that the date for the receipt of applications for approval by the National Centennial Council of centennial projects be extended from September 30, to October 31. A large number of memorial proposals were approved.
