INSULT TO POLAND

Comment on Nazi Outburst United Press Assoclatlon—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright PARIS, September 10. The French Ministry of Information says that Field-Marshal Goering’s warning to the workers to prepare for a siege and privation shows that he apparently fears such a condition might tend towards internal disintegration. For the first time in history, a statesman asked sacrifices from his people, not for the defence of their country or an ideal, but to conquer another's goods. Field-Marshal Goering insults Poland by describing her as a plunderer —Poland who was thrice partitioned by Prussia and was attacked on the present occasion without an ultimatum. The speech was broadcast in several languages from Berlin. A special appeal was made to America urging Americans no longer to sympathise with Britain, who willingly sank the Athenla with hundreds of Americans aboard. “ALREADY WORN OUT” United Press Assoclatlon—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright PARIS. September 10. The Finance Minister <M. Paul Reynaud), in a broadcast, said: “Germany Is already worn out by her war preparations. The French financial and economic front is infinitely superior to Germany’s and Is also superior-to the conditions under which France entered the Great War.”
