Lieutenant-General Wavell has been appointed officer in command in the Middle East to supervise the preparation of defences and co-ordinate action in the event of war. Complete co-operation on defence was agreed to at a conference of Indian and Burmese military stall's. Plans for the maintenance of food supplies, transport of war materials and the assurance of military reinforcements were discussed in the light of the recent Singapore conference.
