IN OTHER CENTRES Christchurch: The weather was fine yesterday morning but the sky clouded soon after noon and rain set in later. Early in the evening it turned to snow. A light but cold south-west wind prevailed. The maximum temperature was 41 degrees. The barometer rose slightly to 29.70 inches at 5 p.m. Tcmuka: Yesterday was dull and overcast with a cold south-west wind. The maximum temperature was 44 degrees, and the minimum 18. Four points of rain had fallen up till 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The glass was falling last evening. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday): Barometer. 41.2; thermometer, maximum 41.2, minimum 31; frost, 101 degrees; bright sunshine. 36 minutes; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 102. Yesterday was overcast and cold with rain falling in the late afternoon. Dunedin: After a heavy fall of snow overnight conditions yesterday were cold with a fresh breeze from the south-west and a heavily overcast sky. Light snow and heavy rain showers fell at intervals during the morning, and there was a heavy hail shower in the afternoon. The maximum temperature for the day was 50 degrees. The barometer rose slightly to 29.79 inches.
