CORONATION FLAG

PRESENTATION TO MUSEUM By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, June 23. The original New Zealand standard carried by the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London, Mr W. J. Jordan, at the Coronation of George VI has been secured by the Government and presented to the board of trustees of the National Art Gallery and Dominion Museum for safe keeping. The formal presentation was made at to-day's meeting of the board by the Hon. W. E. Parry. “It is the desire of the Government that the flag of this Dominion which played no inconspicuous part with the flags of other countries of the British Empire in the memorable ceremony should be presented to the board of trustes for safe keeping among the treasures of the institution,” said Mr Parry. “The original flag was obtained from the College of Arms conditional on New Zealand agreeing to the making of a replica with which to complete the records of the college. The flag itself, as a specimen of art needlework, is a beautiful piece of work. The preservation of the flag for the people in the Nati-ial Museum will add still further interest and lustre lo the line collection in the museum of our treasures.”
