FAIR Special to "The Timaru Herald.’’ WELLINGTON, June 23 Winds—North-westerly winds predominating and becoming strong at times, more especially inland. Weather —Intermittent rain in the ranges with some snow, mainly fair on the plains but occasional scattered showers extending from the west. Moderate temperatures. Seas—Moderate. DOMINION FORECAST General Situation A series of westerly depressions continues to cross the Dominion, the centre of the individual disturbances being located to the south. Forecast Winds—Between north-west and west predominating but temporary changes to south-westerly probable in western districts and the south, force moderate in the southern half of the South Island, otherwse moderate to strong and reaching gale force at times in the central portion of the country. Seas—Rough on the west coast, slight to moderate on the east coast. Eastern Tasman Sea —Strong winds from between north-west and southwest and rough seas. Weather —Continuing changeable and showery in western districts and the south, with some snow probable on the ranges of the South Island. Mainly fair east of the ranges but. with occasional isolated showers; temperatures becoming cooler but no major cold change probable. June 24 4. 5 a.m. OVERCAST AND WARM There was only a slight frost yesterday. The day was dull but quite warm with occasional glimpses of the sun. Rainfall to date last year—2o.2sin. Sunshine —1.9 hours. Sunshine to date this year—99o.3hrs Sunshine to date last year—Bo3.9hrs. IN OTHER CENTRES Christchurch: Yesterday was fine but dull. There was a brief shower of rain in the morning. The maximum temperature was 56.8 degrees, and at 5 p.m. the barometer was steady at 29.079 inches. Geraldine: Yesterday was sunny at times but showers fell at intervals. Temuka: Yesterday was overcast with intermittent sunshine, while a north wind prevailed. A light shower fell in the morning. The maximum temperature was 52 degrees and the minimum 24. The glass was steady last evening. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday): Thennameter, max, 60.2; min. 37.0; barometer, 28.8; frost, 2 degrees; bright sunshine, 4 hours 42 minutes; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 36. Yesterday was overcast but mild. Dunedin: Yesterday was overcast but mild Some light showers fell during the morning. Conditions were slightly clearer in the afternoon, although the sun failed to break through. There was practically no wind. The maximum tempertaure was 52 degrees. The barometer fell to 29.15 inches.
