CHALMERS CHURCH

SUNDAY SCHOOL REUNION During last week-end a very successful Reunion of ex-teachers and ex-pupils of Sunday Schools connected with Chalmers Church was held. For the Sunday School concert, the Robert Jackson Memorial Hall was packed with parents and friends. Ex-teachers and ex-pupils renewed friendships at a most enjoyable Banquet. Opportunity was taken to express appreciation to three teachers who recently relinquished their positions. They were Miss J. Holst, Messrs W. Gibb and C. Hind. The following toasts were honoured: The King; Sunday School and Bible Classes, proposed by Mr E. T. Porter and replied to by Mr J. E. Cameron; Ex-Teachers and Ex-Pupils, proposed by Mrs Millar and replied to by Mr Buchanan, of Ashburton, who was on the teaching staff the first year the school was opened and was later Superintendent for four years of Chalmers Sunday School; Congregation, proposed by Mrs D. S. Kemshed, replied to by Mr W. S. Young.
