SOUTHLAND MINERS
UNEMPLOYMENT ALLEGED Bv lelegra ph - Press GREYMOUTH, June 23. Replying to an Invercargill message which stated that no miners had been put off in Southland, the secretary of the United Mine Workers, Mr McLagan. said to-night that information from the Nightcaps Miners Union shows that 60 men were put off by the Mossbank Coal Company, Nightcaps. It was true, said Mi- McLagan, that part of the mine was flooded, but approximately 30 men were put off in another part of the mine not flooded. The position was that at least 35 miners were unemployed in the Nightcaps district and vainly looking for wo r k in Nightcaps mines.
