TASMAN AIR MAIL
QUESTION OF THE TERMINUS By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, June 22. The claims of Wellington as the terminal of the trans-Tasman air service by the Tasman and Empire air lines were placed before Mr Savage and Mr Jones by a deputation representing the City Council, Harbour Board and Chamber of Commerce. Both Ministers readily admitted that Wellington possesses advantages from a mail distributive point of view and if other factors were equal there could be no argument about the location of the main base. Safety being the paramount factor, the Government must necessarily be guided by expert opinion. Mr Savage said that a happy, feasible way might be the establishment of a base at Wellington as well as Auckland, whereby safety would be assured under all conditions of weather, and he gave an assurance that this aspect would be investigated.
