Births in the district number about 75 weekly so that the approximate weekly bill would be £825. HOSPITAL FACILITIES By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, June 22. Nearly all the maternity hospitals in Christchurch are now available to patients under the Social Security maternity benefits scheme. At first private hospitals did not sign contracts with the State, but since then correspondence has passed between them and the Minister of Health, and the situation has changed so that it is now possible in almost every institution for patients to avail themselves of the benefits.
