OBITUARY
MR HOWARD KENWAY By Telegraph—Press Association GISBORNE, June 3. Mr Howard Kenway, one of the bestknown settlers and public body men in Poverty Bay, died suddenly, aged 76. A member of a well-known English family which established a sheep-farm-ing connection in New Zealand, Mr Kenway was a pioneer of the Waimata district and was manager for the Kiore Sheepfarming Company. Ha served as chairman of the Cook County Council and Cook Hospital Board, and was an active member of other public and semi-public bodies. In the commercial field, he was a director of the Gisborne Sheepfarmers Company, and in social activities found an outlet rs president of the Y.M.C.A. and an active member and past Rangatira of the Savage Club. He was an ardent worker during the war and for many years was chairman of the Citizens’ Defence Committee.
Mr Kenway leaves a widow, but no children.
