SIMONE SIMON AS SINGER

Promise of Developing Talent Simone Simon's star as a singer is just rising. That the exotic little French actress will become a great singer of the screen is the prediction of one of the country’s foremost voice coaches, Mme Elizabeth Alexander Major. “Miss Simon established herself In ‘Love and Hisses’ as a singing artist of rare talent,” said Mme Major.

“But she will excel even that performance during the coming few months as she continues to study and develop a natural voice of distinctive charm. She reveals what singular beauty she possesses as a lyric-colora-tura soprano. "What is most important about her singing is that her voice is imbued with decided personality, just as is her acting. She can take a song which to others would be just a song, and turn it into something meaningful, fascinating and beautiful. Such is the mark of artistic greatness. “There is no reason why Miss Simon shouldn’t become one of the truly distinguished singers of the cinema.” Herself once famous on the opera and concert stages of Germany, Austria and Hungary, Mme Major came to the United States from her native Budapest several years ago. When talkies were born, she spent three years in Hollywood giving voice training.
