IN SEARCH OF WORK
AUSTRALIANS REACH AUCKLAND By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, June 2. A total of 38 Australian workers arrived by the Awatea from Sydney. They included a party of nine under contract to the Government for employment in the Hutt railway workshops and these men left for Wellington by train. The remainder of those who arrived, 28 men and a women, came to the Dominion Independently in search of work, Among them were seven carpenters, four farm faboi—ers, three textile workers, two painters, two motor drivers, two plasterers and two builders’ labourers. A representative of an uncommon occupation among the workers arriving from overseas was a but' ■. The party was met on the vessel by the State Placement Officer (Mr J. Elsbury), who took particulars of their Qualifications.
