ESK VALLEY Mrs Bishop presided over the May meeting of the Esk Valley Institute. The secretary read a letter from the chairman of the School Committee thanking the Institute for its handsome donation towards the school funds and congratulating the Institute on winning the banner by such an overwhelming majority of points at the recent group show. He also conveyed the appreciation of the district to the Institute for attending to the gardens round the memorial and making them very attractive and neat throughout the year. He wished the Institute success for the coming year.
An invitation to the St. Andrew’s W.I. birthday party was received. The president thanked members for their hearty co-operation at the recent group show, thus enabling the Institute to win the banner, which will be retained for the year.
