WEATHER SOUTH CANTERBURY FORECAST
FINE Special to " The Timaru Hernia." WELLINGTON, June 1. Winds—Light to moderate and variable winds. south-westerlies predominating at first but later turning to we- j and north-west in places. Weather—Fine; milder day but cold night temperatures with some frosis and morning fogs. Seas—Slight to moderate. DOMINION FORECAST General Situation An anti-cyclone still covers the Eastern Tasman Sea and New Zealand, while to the east pressure has fallen somewhat. A cyclonic depression now over eastern Victoria is likely to move southwards. Forecast Winds—Light to fresh south-west to southerly, turning to-morrow to west or north-west about and south of Cook Strait and gradually increasing. Seas (New Zealand waters)—Rather rough south of Dunedin, otherwise slight to moderate but rising' tomorrow afternoon in Cook Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea—Light to moderate but freshening north-east to northerly winds; seas slight to moderate but later rising in the southern portion. Weather—For the most part fair to fine; scattered rain probable, however, on the south coast and extending tomorrow to Western Otago; cold night with frbSts and morning fogs but milder to-morrow.
