THE HUNT
MEET AT GERALDINE Weather conditions were very satisfactory for the first hunt of the season held in the Geraldine district last Saturday. The rain which fell the previous night proved most beneficial. Scent was good and hounds and the huntsman gave the followers a good day's sport. Hounds were taken to a field of turnips on Mr Ford’s property and soon found a hare which gave a good run through Mr Ford’s then across the road into Mr Davies’ finally doubling back into Mr Ford's where it was pulled down. There were several short runs over the properties of Messrs Davis, Tiplady and Hughes but each time the quarry escaped.
Those following were: Mr J. M. Shaw, huntsman, on Darky and Peter; hon. whips. Miss M. Shaw on Peter and Mr C. Maze on Valmy; Mrs Taylor on William, Mrs Welsh on Cinderella, Miss Edgar Jones on Kohinor and The Seer, Miss P. Harper on Gendarme, Miss P. Guinness on Mischief, Miss D. Maze on Harkaway, Miss J. Maze on Harkaway, Miss A. Templar on Brandy, Miss V. Allan on Romeo, Miss G. McEvey on Mousie, Miss B. Taylor on Trixie, Mr J. Allan on Charles, Mr Ford on a bay, Mr C. Stock on a brown, Mr F. Pratt on Pepper, Mr A. Williams on Star, H. Ellis on Disclose and J. Wooding on Indicator.
Those in cars included Mrs G. A. M. McDonald and party, Mr and Mrs Guinness, Mr and Mrs R. Allan, Mrs J. M. Shaw, Mrs E. B. Temple and party, Mr G. Pierce and party, Mrs J. C. Templer, Miss Howell and party, Miss Theo Williams, Messrs Maddox T. Hughes and McColl and party.
