THE SMITHFIELD MARKET
Heavy Stocks of Lamb
Beef Easier The Meat Producers' Board, in its report on the Smithfield market fcr the week ended April 13. says that prime lamb 2's and B’s are a shade easier, but others are unchanged. Consumption is satisfactory for the time of year, but heavy spot stocks are depressing the market. The trade in wether mutton is slow with lower prices. Ewe mutton is steady with fair trade. Frozen beef is neglected owing to the low prices of chilled. The latter is weaker, owing to heavy supplies and a slow demand. Porker pigs are easier on the slow trade, due to warmer weather. Baconer pigs are weaker owing t_ the lower prices of Continental bacon. The boneless bobby veal market is quiet and unchanged. Quotations are: Per lb. April Mar 13 5 30 d. d. d.
