WOMEN’S DIVISION
KINGSDOWN BRANCH The Kingsdown branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union held its annual meeting in the school, Mrs R. Bartholomew presiding over a good attendance of members. Mrs L. C. Thompson was welcomed as a visitor. The secretary presented the annual report which was adopted as also was the balance-sheet The resignation of Mrs D. Loder, the secretary, was then received with regret. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: President, Mrs S. Cartwell; vice-presidents, Mrs C. Hall and Mrs R. Bartholomew; secretary, Mrs G. Ellis; treasurer, Mrs E. Daniel; advisory member, Miss E. Rooney; in charge of competitions and sales table, Mrs D. Broon; executive members, Mrs C. Hall and Mrs E. Daniel; trustees, Mrs E. Daniel and Mrs G. Ellis; entertainments, Mrs R. Bartholomew and Mrs G. Ellis. Before leaving the chair, Mrs Bartholomew thanked the committee and members for the help given to her in her work during the year, and asked for the same co-operation for the new president. The yearly competitions were won as follows: aggregate, Miss Z. Hampton 1, Miss O. Hampton 2; household, Miss E. Simmons 1. Mrs W. Simmons 2. garden, Miss Z. Hampton 1, Miss O. Hampton 2. Hostesses for the month were Mrs A. Fridd, Mrs G. Ellis and Mrs C. Hall. It was decided to form a drama group and if possible to produce at least two plays during the year. The monthly competitions were won a follows: Something from skein of wool, Miss Z. Hampton 1, Mrs C. Hall 2, Miss O. Hampton 3; three largest apples, Mrs C. Hall 1, Mrs G. Ellis 2, Miss Z. Hampton 3.
