SAFE BLOWN OPEN

TOWN BOARD LOSES £43 By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, April 17. Thieves entered the Tuakau Town Board offices early yesterday morning by smashing a panel in the front door. They blew open the safe in the strongroom and stole £43 in notes and silver. The money stolen included £5, £1 and 10/- notes. An Attempt Foiled NEW PLYMOUTH, April 17. Apparently surprised by the unexpected arrival of the manager, a burglar was unsuccessful in blowing open the safe in the grocery shop of Mr James McLean at Inglewood on Saturday night. Fumes were noticed by the manager, Mr S. Lovell, when he entered the store, but there was no sign of the intruder. A charge had been exploded in the keyhole of the safe.
