CYCLING RACE
ROFESSIONAL CLUB'S FIXTURES Fastest time was secured by I. Thomson in a road cycle race which was held from Fairlie to Kimbell and back, a distance of 10 miles, on Tuesday night The race was organised by the Fairlie Cycle and Athletic Club. Thomson’s, time for the distance was 28min 32secs Second fastest was L. Carlton with 28min 3secs. The results were:—L. Carlton (Imim 1, I. Thomson (Amin) 2, B. Whyte (1A min) 3.
At a subsequent meeting of the committee arrangements were made for the closing day, which will be held at the sports grounds on Saturday afternoon. The cycling will include a cne mile local handicap event for the Willmott Cup, a one mile handicap race and a half mile handicap race. Running events will be 135yds, 440yds and 75yds and the field events will be made up of a hop, step, and jump and a pole vault. The women’s programme will include a 135yds race, a 75yds race and a hop, step and jump. Arrangements have been made for the Mackenzie Pipe Band to attend. A. Crampton is in an unassailable position in the running and Saturday's results cannot affect his lead. He has 46 points, the next competitor being J. Boulton who has 27. J. Keenan follows with 21 points. In the cycling, L. Carlton leads with 28 points and he is followed by V. Wall who has 24 and I. Thomson who has 17.
