Various means of recognising the services of Mr William Wallace to hospital work in Auckland and New Zealand were adopted by the Auckland Hospital Board. They include the presentation of a plaque and a cheque, to be made at an executive meeting of the Hospital Boards’ Association in Wellington, and it was proposed that the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) be asked to make the presentation. It was also decided that a raised plaque, showing the head and shoulders of Mr Wallace, should be made and placed in the Wallace block at the Auckland Hospital until it could be placed permanently in the assembly hall of the proposed new buildings. An appropriate tablet recording his work for the board, the Hospital Boards' Association. and the Nurses and Midwives Registration Board was also agreed on for placing below the plaque.
