“SQUEALERS”

MR SEMPLE’S OUTBURST By Telegraph—Press Association WHANGAREI, February 23 “We have got to ensure that the toiler draws more from the national pool and the dividend king less,” said the Hon. R. Semple, to a deputation at Houhora yesterday. “The more squealing we hear from men who live in expectation of exploiting another’s toil the more we shall like it." Mr Semple visited Spirits Bay yesterday, and was surprised to find that the extremity of the northern peninsula, above Waipapakauri, supports 2200 people, and has an output of 150 tons of butter. He urged the construction of a temporary landing ground at Te Hapua, which would complete the Dominion chain of military aerodromes, and would be available for touring planes and isolated residents in times of emergency. The Minister received a numb" of deputations asking for improved reading, drainage, housing, and gum development facilities. Mr Semple was impressed with the progress of planting the sand dunes in the vicinity of the Ninety Mile Beach. Mr Semple turned southwards to-day.
