A public demonstration by Booth Macdonald, Ltd. of the Holland Tractor- Cultivator and tractor disc har-ows will be given by Mr H. D. Roberts on Mr R. J. Seay’s farm at Winscombe. Fairlie, on Tuesday next. This harrow disc was awarded the Christchurch Agricultural Show’s gold medal for 1938. The Railway Department advertises in this issue that a special train at exceptionally cheap day excursion fares will run from Timaru to Dunedin on Sunday, January 22. The Railway Department advertises particulars of special train arrangements and fares between Timaru and the Racecourse to-day. The week-end fixture for lovers of dancing is the Timaru Scottish Society’s dance in the Scottish Hall to-night. A sale by public auction of property at Temuka will be held by Morton and Co., Ltd. to-day, at 11 a.m., on the site at 49 John Street, Temuka, on account of Mr J. Neville, who is leaving the district. The property consists of two sections and a five-roomed dwell-’ ing. The house has just been rcpapered and painted throughout, has every convenience, concrete paths, etc., and will stand any inspection. As Mr Neville is anxious to sell a very low reserve has been placed on it. A sale of timber on accoun’ of the Timaru Box Company will be held on Saturday morning next at 46a Le Cren Street at 10 a.m. The timber is sound and borer free and is in various sizes : nd lengths and consists of pine, Oregon, bluegum and poplar. This sale offers an excellent opportunity to farmers and others to purchase at auction prices timber for building sheds, etc. A full list may be found in the auction columns.
