BOWLING N.Z. TOURNAMENT

Rinks Championship Unexpected Results In Early Rounds By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, January 13. The championship tournament of the New Zealand Bowling Association was continued to-day, when a start was made with the section play in the rinks events, two rounds being played. The weather, which showed distinct signs of breaking the previous evening, held up well, the players being favoured with good conditions, although the greens were slightly holding. The wind was not so much in evidence as during the early stages of the tournament. In all 220 teams contested the event. One of the early surprises was the heavy defeat of the Australian team skipped by Harrison. The holders of the rinks title, H. Wilson’s team, of Linwood, was defeated In the morning by Dick (Ponsonby). The two English players, C. P. and K. I.
