Sir Don Baron Jayatilaka is resigning the leadership of the State Council and also the portfolio of Minister of Home Affairs. If Inspector P. N. Banks remains as Inspector-General of Police, he intends to remain a private member and lead the fight for reforms, particularly the ministerial control of the finances.
