British Live Stock Losses

According to the report of the Committee on Veterinary Education in Great Britain it is estimated that the annual loss from disease in farm live stock in the United Kingdom amounts to £19.000,000. With this large sum in their minds the Committee on Veterinary Education in Great Britain has just reported in favour of a revision of the national attitude towards training the veterinary surgeon. The committee writes strongly on the matter as follows: "Veterinary education has been starved, the veterinary schools are overcrowded, teaching staffs are inadequate, and in some Instances poorly paid, facilities for clinical and practical training are Insufficient, and the system of education and courses of study also need amendment.” Its recommendations are directed to remedy these defects.
