WOMEN’S DIVISION

SKIPTON BRANCH The first meeting of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held at Skipton recently, Mrs Parr presiding. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mesdames Scarlett and Bruce on account of illness in their familes. It was decided to have a “Golden Thread” talk each month, the subject to be chosen by individual members. Mesdames Maxwell and Parr gave a demonstration of smocking which was greatly appreciated by those present. The competitions resulted as follows: best bloom, Mrs Gudex 1, Miss Maxwell 2; frock costing not more than 5/-. Miss I. Gudex 1, Miss Maxwell 2. The hostess for the afternoon was Mrs Bruce.
