WOMEN’S DIVISION
HOOK BRANCH J ■- Mrs W. R. Todd presided over the November meeting of the Hook Branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. As a result of the recent concert, the branch was able to send £3 to the Community Chest and £1 to the Leper Fund, while several members brought gifts for the fund. The competitions resulted as follows: Cakes in paper containers, Mrs Wilkin 1, Mrs Rathgen 2, Miss W. Bell 3; ironed shirt, Miss W. Bell; best bloom, Mrs Rathgen 1, Mrs Todd and Miss Jean Langley (equal) 2. A competition was won by Mrs C. F. Rose. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Mason and Tiffen. The December meeting was held on Thursday, Mrs W. R. Todd presiding. It was decided to make the January meeting a social one and the children of the district are to be invited. The competitions resulted as follows: Article not costing more than 6d, Mrs Henderson 1, Mrs Rathgen 2, Mrs Crawford 3; custard tart on plate, Mrs Hadler 1, Mrs Wilkin 2, Mrs Henderson 3; special bloom, Mrs Wilkin 1, Mrs Henderson 2, Mrs Mason 3. A competition was won by Mrs Bell. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Wilkin and Misses Bell and Langley.
