COMBINED INSTITUTE EVENING On Saturday evening the Glen-iti and Fairview Institute’s held a very interesting evening In the Fairview Hall. A good audience was exceedingly interested in a lantern lecture given by Miss Davies of Geraldine, assisted by Mr Mallet, on the Coronation, and the Queen Mary, after which, Miss Davies and Mrs Williams, also of Geraldine, who is the South Canterbury Institute’s president, were presented with bouquets, by Misses M. Kelland and R. Butchers. Mrs Kelland, president of the Fairview Institute introduced Mrs Finlay, the Gleniti president, who thanked the audience for coming along and helping the Institutes. Two plays presented by the Institutes were very much appreciated by the audience. The Gleniti players were Mesdames McDonald, Small, Winnington, McKay, North, D. Ramsay, Hunter, G. Ramsay, Miss Elliot. Fairview players were Misses R. Butchers, J. Dale, E. Brown, E. Dale, Mr A. Bailey. Music for dancing was supplied by Mrs Finlay, Mrs McKay, Mrs Morrison, Miss J. Dale and Mr S. Raddon. Mr E. Butchers was M.C. PERSONAL Mr and Mrs W. Butchers, leave today for Christchurch to stay with Mr and Mrs T. Locke. Mr E. Butchers, “Sunridge”, is at present visiting Christchurch. Mr E. J. Butchers, leaves to-day on a visit to Christchurch.
