CHRISTCHURCH FIGURES By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, October 31. A small decline in Customs revenue for October, compared with the revenue for the same month last year, is shown in the return of the Collector of Customs at Christchurch. The total revenue collected in October this year is £833 less than that for October, 1937. Customs alone declined by £5701 and sales tax by £1740, but there were compensating increases in revenue for beer duty (£3362) and petrol tax (£2785). The beer duty, petrol tax and meat export levies alone showed any appreciable increase in the first seven months of the financial year, during which the total revenue was £1,203,111. The figures were:—

The total revenue collected at the Dunedin Customs Office for the month which ended to-day, shows a slight increase over the total amount collected during October of last year. WAIKARI LIME COMPANY For the year ended August 15, the Waikari Lime Company, Ltd., earned a net profit of £1719, compared with £1706 in the previous year. Dividend, which was passed in the preceding period, was fixed at 5 per cent. Net profit was struck after providing for repairs, depreciation, maintenance, bad and doubtful debts and directors’ fees. With £556 brought in there is £2275 available. Sales and profit Increased, although abnormally bad weather towards the close of the financial year adversely affected the demand.
