TIMARU SHOW

Bright Prospects

Big Event To.-day

...tn the number of entries giving promise of excellent displays in all sections the Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association's annual show at Smithfield, should be an even greater attraction than ever. Commencing today and continuing to-morrow the show has a wide variety both in the competitive sections and in the unusually interesting attractions in the side show alley. entries are up to the average standard in the stock sections, and from reports it appears that the quality will be high and the keen interest always shown in the sheep, cattle, horses and pigs should be amply repaid. In addition the produce and other classes have attracted numerous entries. A feature of the show will be the trade exhibits, and there has been a keen demand for space by various firms which have the most up-to-date machinery to facilitate work on the farm and in the home. Faim implements, milking machines and all manner of machinery will be on view, and the car industry will be strongly represented with the latest models. Dog fanciers will find the dog section under the auspices of the South Canterbury Kennel Club up to the high standard that has been reached In the past. The dog show will be neld on each of the two days in the building specially constructed for the purpose. Also the public will have the opportunity of seeing sheep dogs in action, and will be amazed at the sagacity and skill of the animals taking part in the trial events.

With the experience of past years behind it, the Society has, by its excellent arrangements for this show, proved that it is not by good luck that it has become one of the Dominion's leading shows, and the wide support of exhibitors has amply repaid them for the trouble taken in preparation. Everything that will aid the exhibitors and the general public in the show has been done.

Complete train arrangements have been made to suit both country and town patrons. In addition to trains from the surrounding district, trains will leave Timaru at regular intervals alter 10.25 am. for the showgrounds. TREE-DWELLER FROM AFRICA Übangi, a strange human from Africa, a tiny tree-dweller only a few inches high, will be one of the attractions at the Timaru Show. Übangi is a female semi-savage member of a diminutive tribe, ruthless, barbaric, and unchanged by time, who slay with poisoned arrow and blow-dart. In their tree-top homes their playmates are the beasts of the jungle. Her food consists of honey, ants, juicy roots, berries, nuts, and she is particularly fond of slightly cooked venison. Her age is assumed to be about 30 years WONDER GLASS BLOWER A GLASS DRESS The exhibition of glassblowing given by the Wonder Glass Blower at the A. and P. Show to-day and to-morrow will prove a most unique exhibition. Indeed, the chief feeling of those who see this exhibition will be one of bewilderment that brittle glass can be handled with so much ease while it is molten. It is amazing to see beautiful models of graceful swans, aeroplanes, vases and all kinds of fantastic works of art take shape under the delicate touch and sureness of breath of this talented artist. A few quick movements with the lingers, and a sailing ship in full sail is the result. The Wonder Glass Blower will give these amazing demonstrations without the aid of moulds of any kind, and all manner of articles will be made from the molten glass in full view of the audience. The glass dress is a most wonderful piece of work. It is all glass, yet can be handled and worn the same as ordinary material, and took seven weeks to make. Show patrons should take this opportunity of seeing the Glass Blower at work. The exhibition will be continuous all day
