BOOTS AND SHOES
VALUE OF RESEARCH WORK By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, October 26. Manufacturers have expressed appreciation of the first year's work of the Shoe Research Association which was formed 13 months ago in conjunction With the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. The objective was to help boot and shoe manufacturers to maintain and improve, where possible, the quality of footwear made in New Zealand. The Hon. D. G. Sullivan, as Minister in charge of the Scientific and Industrial Research Department said today that the progress of the Shoe Research Association was discussed at a meeting of the executive committee o.i October 4 when the Director (Mr Philip White) explained the Association’s aims. It had been demonstrated that the boot and shoe industry as a whole had been improving the quality of Its products for many years, and the executive committee of the Shoe Research Association was definitely of the opinion that the Association’s activities had been a great help to the trade.
