WRECK OF TITANIC
FILM TO BE MADE Alfred Hitchcock, the British film producer, returned from his first visit to Hollywood much impressed with the efficiency of the executives he met there. “I wanted to protect a story for a year. A specialist was immediately available. I wanted all the data I could gather about the wreck of the Titanic, the subject of my first picture for David Selznick. “I was able to leave with a trunk full of books, articles and contemporary illustrations of the disaster. Wid? Appeal “Film-making in Hollywood is an industry, carefully and efficiently organised with a view to producing an article that will appeal to the widest possible market.” In filming the Titanic story Mr Hitchcock will emphasise the fact that the tragedy did not occur in vain. As a result of it all manner of precautions were adopted which have lessened the risk of disaster at sea. Mr Hitchcock’s next picture will t?e “Jamaica Inn,” with Charles Laughton playing the sinister parson interested in the old Cornish industry of wrecking. The script is now being prepar d. and shooting will start in about six weeks.
