WEDDINGS

WOOD—HEWSON The Presbyterian Church, Temuka, which was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride, was the scene on Wednesday of the wedding of Brenda Marion, second daughter of Mr and Mrs R. H. Hewson, Seadown, to Jeffery Oscar, second son of Mr and Mrs H. Wood, Albury. The Rev. W. F. Nichol performed the ceremony, and Mrs McDonald presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted _by her father, wore a frock of ivory figured satin, cut on slim-fitting lines, the deep folds forming a train. The heartshaped neck was finished with an old family silver horseshoe brooch. The tight fitting sleeves were pointed over the hand and trimmed with buttons. Her beautifully embroidered veil fell from a crown-like coronet, which consisted of orange blossom and net. She carried a shower bouquet of freesias, clematis and maidenhair fern. The bride’s sister, Miss Winnie Hewson, acted as bridesmaid. She wore a frock of powder-blue georgette, made on the same slim fitting lines as that of the bride. The square-necked bodice with short draped sleeves, was ruched across the front and trimmed with ping centred georgette flowers. In her hair she wore pink rosebuds. She also wore a necklace of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom. Her bouquet consisted of pink japonica, blue hyacinths and pink and blue anemones. Mr Lindsay Wood, cousin of the bridegroom, acted as best man. The reception was held at the home of the bride, where the guests were received by Mr and Mrs Hewson and Mrs Wood. A feature of the afternoon was moving pictures taken at the church and at the home of the bride’s parents. The bride’s mother wore a brown ensemble, with cream and orange polyanthus to tone. She also wore a smart brown taffeta hat. The bridegroom’s mother wore a navy tailored costume and navy straw to tone, with red anemones and asparagus fem in her shoulder spray. When the happy couple left, the bride wore a smart, dark green tailored costume, with pale green blouse and hat, and she carried a stole. Their future home will be in Lowcliffe.

SUTTON—HALL At St. Peter’s Church, Timaru, Eva May, fifth daughter of Mr and Mrs H. B. Hall “Beltana,” Timaru, was married to James Kitchener, youngest son of Mr and Mrs J. Sutton, Bruce Bay, South Westland. The Rev. H. I. Hopkins officiated. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a fitting frock of cream satin. Her beautiful satin embroidered veil was held in place by a coronet of roses. She carried a shower bouquet of freesias, hyacinths and maidenhair fem.

The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Clare Hall, who wore a pale green satin frock made on similar lines to that of the bride. She wore a floral bandeau with short stiff tulle veil and carried a bouquet of spring flowers and maidenhair fem.

The bridegroom was attended by Mr Fred Hayes.

As the bride was leaving the church she was presented with a silver horseshoe by a tiny friend Robin Drew. The reception was held at the bride’s home, where the bride’s mother assisted by the bridegroom’s sister, Mrs J. Grandi, received the guests.

Later in the day the happy couple left for the south, the I ride travelling in a rust suit heavily braided in brown and fur stole with accessories to tone. She carried a fawn ttddy coat.
