The Newcastle Central Strike Committee has decided to ask the Government, as a precaution against possible serious happenings, to withdraw police protection from small pits still working. The Australian Railways Union has decided to give £250 to help the striking miners, and to impose a compulsory levy of 2/- a member, which will i raise about £1740.
